From the article:
The worst I have been treated was by northern liberal elites. The absolute worst I have ever been treated, Thomas said. The worst things that have been done to me, the worst things that have been said about me, by northern liberal elites, not by the people of Savannah, Georgia.
There it is in black and white! (Oops, just can’t help myself)
“I dont know how an oath becomes meaningful unless you have faith. “
I just adore that man.
Judge Thomas’s comments remind me of a conversation I had with one of my favorite teachers in high school. He was black and he and I were talking about prejudice: he told me he encountered more prejudice when he went up north to a teacher’s convention than he ever did growing up in east Texas.
He said that he knew he was back in the South when he walked in a restaurant, ordered coffee and the waitress addressed him as “sir” and she was white.
