What? Do you object to having to do an interrogation after each attempted sentence to try to determine the meaning of it? How uncool of you.
The real fault lies with the millenial’s parents. Where were they when these worthless punks grew up?
Their lack of insights into the job interview process is just amazing to me.
I didn’t have to take a course to know that one showed up on time for the interview , was professionally dressed (for me, as a man, that was a suit and tie), and displayed exceptionally good manners. If cell phones existed back then, I would have never thought about bringing one with me to the interviews.
It strikes me as more than just a case of bad manners. They just don’t display good common sense.
Over the years I have interviewed thousands of job applicants...I can’t imagine someone bringing their pet to the interview....
I do know I would not waste my time or theirs if they did...

Where I work, there are a lot of millennialists. Not a day passes when at least one of the toilets in the men’s room is not flushed after being dumped in.
And, even though there are urinals, a lot of these kids use the toilets to urinate, and some don’t even bother to lift the seat.
Disgusting.
The company refuses to issue any employee instructions about it.
Cell phones off.....Two pens in pocket and a copy of your resume handy just in case.
Take notes and ask intelligent questions.

The first job I applied for after 4 years of military was at a lumber retailer in Pennsylvania. I showed up for the interview in a suit and tie, the first thing the interviewer said to me was, "we don't have any office or sales jobs available".
I explained to him that I didn't have to have an office or sales job, that I would take any job that was available. I still didn't get a job there. I suppose one can be "over dressed" too.
He asked many employers there what they most wanted in an employee. The answer by all he talked with to every question, no matter how asked, was: some one who shows up.
One firm was asked: what sort of welding experience was needed and they answered: none, just some one who will show up - we will train to start at $24 an hour with a signing bonus.
Welders are still in short supply here.

According to my son and other people I know working retail, it’s too hard for a substantial proportion of the population.

We also have a work ethic instilled into our psyche by our Depression Era parents that has not been passed on to these snot nosed millenials who think they are entitled to everything. My sister is one of them and she thinks she deserves everything. I have worked my way up from a starter house to where I live now. She thinks her starter house was the one my parents built for her and now she has moved into a $300K house. I find it shocking at how easy it is for young people to go into drowning debt.
We got lazy.
Children matured in a time where they were told it’s okay to look down on people who work, it’s okay to have oral sex in school, to view women as sex objects, internet porn is just fine, it’s okay to smoke pot, joining the military is a sign of personal failure, you must go to college, you should get everything you want for free, capitalism is evil.
We allowed leaders like Bill Clinton and Barry to get elected over petty differences and this is the whirlwind. Self idolatry of the worst kind.
I’m certainly not defending the millennials, but why should they take their jobs seriously when companies don’t take their employees seriously.

The premises you posted are ridiculous, like with the MBA thing and $9/hour.
I was in various management positions with my employer for around thirty years and would never have hired someone fitting the image that’s been projected for ‘millenies’.
Employers hire people they believe they can depend on to properly represent them to the customers, compentently do their required on schedule and be at work when required.
Employers don’t give a damn about people with piercings, visible tattoos, weird haircuts or colors, or clothing that is not appropriate to the business.
People who are looking for work and just want to ‘express themselves’ instead of melding into what the businesses are looking to employ will continue to vote for Democrats to get their handouts from taxpayer dollars and further drive the USA into third world status than the Obama administration has managed to do since 2009.
Regarding the inability to write a complete, coherent sentence I can agree. The thing is, I’m a late-30’s guy who works with some people in their 50’s and I see it in them. Their emails look like text messages. Honest to God, complete inability to literally convey a message and make themselves understood. Grammar is a rumor to them. Otherwise normal and reasonably intelligent Americans but when I get an email from them, usually 6-10 words in total, I know that I need to make the walk down to them to actually understand the issue because I generally can’t understand what it is from their communication.
My point is that it’s not just the “young” in this country who have been affected by pop culture. Texting is one of the worst things that has ever happened to those who depend or rely upon written language to communicate.
EXACTLY. My sister is a damn teacher to boot. She makes excuses for that girl/woman still. It is always-”she has a weight problem, and; people pick on her.”She fed the damn kid. Her husband is fat as hell now, plus the son is putting the lbs. on. Very damn sad.
Most likely the "ad" indicates wishful thinking on the part of the employer rather than an actual job opening. Hiring managers frequently indulge in escapist fantasies of "the perfect subordinate at a bargain price".
There are many such "employment postings" in various media - with advanced professional credential requirements and entry-level pay scales, or even unpaid internships. Those jobs are not real.
At best, less than 50% of advertised jobs result in a hiring action within six months of the posting.
When there is a real need to get a job done, the hiring manager will take the next presentable candidate that comes in the door.
It is no great wonder that "millenials" do poorly at job interviews. It is a crazy-making process and they get constant mis-direction.
This has not changed at all in the last 40 years either.
