......the article was so poorly written it is hard to draw a conclusion. At the outset, it was just a one punch deal, then along toward the middle it was two punches, then at the very end it was all sorts of crimes by Neale. Then, the judge had a negative view of Neale clearly based on more than just one punch.

But, notwithstanding any of the foregoing, if the sob he hit was dealing in drugs and assaulting the woman then the sob got what he deserved and that one count, standing all by itself in Texas would have begotten Mr. Neale an “atta boy” from the sheriff,
