Teen tricks Walmart stores out of nearly $30,000

NORMAN, Okla. – A 17-year-old is facing charges after he tricked three Walmart stores out of nearly $30,000.

Police aren’t releasing his name because he is a juvenile, but Norman police finally caught up to him Jan. 30 in Norman and arrested him.

The teen stole from the Walmart stores in Dec. after conning managers into believing he worked there.

“You would think a store manager would catch on to something like that,” said shopper Vernon Boyce.

After reading the police report, you realize no one noticed or suspected anything. The report says at a Moore Walmart he “…acted as if he was a general manager from another store.” Wearing the company’s name tag and all, he told the manager “…he was doing an inventory of the store before general managers came to inspect them after the holidays.”

Surviellance cameras caught the teenager. The report says he was “…alone in the cash office…” It says he took “… multiple bundles of cash, stuffing them inside his pockets and clothes.” He even hugged the manager before he walked out.

Sgt. Jeremey Lewis says this is one for the books.

“He’s obviously confident in what he’s doing and has a good story,” said Sgt. Lewis. The teen knew the drill because police say he worked at a Walmart in Oklahoma City until he was fired for stealing money.

After that, he showed up in his old uniform at an Edmond store. Managers actually put him to work on a register. He pocketed more than $3,000 that day.

“I really would have been too nervous, too scared to even try it,” said Boyce.

When the fraudster played the same role in the Norman Walmart, the con was over. The Cleveland County District Attorney is working on the case now. No word yet on if he will be tried as an adult.

“APPARENTLY THE WALMART EYES IN THE SKY CREW COULDN’T CATCH ‘STICKY FINGERED LOUEY ON REGISTER 13’ HERE IN MID-PILFER.”

Wal-Mart eye in the sky crew caught one of my co-workers shoplifting...except they didn’t. Held him for over an hour and when the cops got there they questioned him, strip searched him and after finding nothing let him go.

Pissed him off, pissed me off. I think they should have been arrested for kidnapping. But his lawyer say’s no.

Screw ‘em. They want to detain me, someones getting their ass whipped. Might be me. Might not.....

I wonder how he managed to get the register to work? He has to have a certain set of numbers for that or else it won’t go. And the numbers are supposed to be in the central system. Everybody has a unique set of numbers..

Ahhh...that must be the weak point.

.I THINK CORPORATE WALLMART NEEDS TO CONTACT ANY VEGAS CASINO AND HIRE A CREW TO COME DOWN AND TEACH WALLWORLD SECURITY BOYS A COURSE IN THE FINER POINTS OF ‘JDLR’.....JUST SAYIN’

I did some contract work at a very profitable casino in Ledyard, CT. I can tell you that they are SO touchy and SO intrusive, that it cannot translate into a mass market operation like Wal-Mart. Perhaps Vegas has a different set up, as I am SURE that being on reservation land makes lawsuits more complicated, but Wal-Mart would have endless lawsuits flying their way if they did things the reservation casino way.

Sounds like WM has some serious store management issues to address. Wonder if they’re over-multitasked these days.

You get what you pay for.
