Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham battled the rest of the Fox News Sunday panel over immigration, arguing that immigration reform and current enforcement of immigration laws were weakening the American workforce, even as her fellow panelists countered that reform would bolster the economy.
I think what were seeing here is a split inside the Republican Party between two staunch conservatives, host Chris Wallace said, going on to ply Ingraham with a Wall Street Journal editorial that called flinching on reform de facto amnesty.
As far as I can tell, the Wall Street Journal is on the side of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, Pat Leahy and La Raza, Ingraham said. I think they should put down their dogeared copy of Fountainhead and live in the real world Do we care about American workers at all?
Youre the one whos arguing the AFL-CIO argument, Will said, noting that the economic dynamism aided by immigrants would help sustain the American workforce.
So why have a border at all? Ingraham said. There is no will to enforce the border. There is no faith in this administration to do it. The Republican elites and the Democratic elites agree, and the people are revolting across this country.
Wallace and Juan Williams then challenged Ingraham with the fact that deportations under the Obama administration were at record highs; she countered that Obamas executive order to defer action against undocumented young people in the summer of 2012 belied this argument.

Ok, we need immigrants speed up the ongoing visa programs. Doesn’t mean we can’t chose who we let into the country. No foreign country dictates who we allow in.
Excellently put.
Because, if you want to participate in the political process at all, sometimes you support someone who is the [and I know how conservative purists hate this] the lesser of two evils.
Or you can sit the election out protesting that there is no candidate that meets your criteria.
The last election saw about 5 million conservatives take the latter decision. But Romney looks like a pretty good alternative to me right at the moment.
Not me. I have no regret about not replacing one evil with another. And we ALL had an option to vote for someone else. Had we exercized that option, we would not have EITHER evil in office.
One need not waste their vote and support human garbage to participate in the political process. I have no idea why you’d believe something so obviously false.
Democrats want the votes and Republicans want the cheap labor.
“Id like to see somebody stop worrying about Mexicans - who are illegal only because we dont have any appropriate way of legalizing them”
And this is a symptom of a larger problem. You must not understand what illegal means since you saw fit to use the word in quotes while trying to sympathize with criminals who are here illegally and who basically entered our country without permission.
There were a lot of parts in Spanish and I have no idea what they translated to for the most part.
Rand Paul has definitely JUMPED THE SHARK.
I have many times, and other posters also have mentioned the solution.
More than one state has done it.
Enforce all the laws, period.
These states have passed state legislation that not non-citizens can NOT receive any Gov benefits, welfare, food stamps, SSI--NADA nothing!
Illegals have self deported and American citizens have now taken many of the jobs that the illegal alien criminal invading colonists were doing and their economies have gone UP--gotten much better--and unemployment has gone DOWN.
Imagine the economy here in California if a leftist judge had not ILLEGALLY nullified Prop 187 years ago calling it unconstitutional? Which it WAS NOT! It was the people telling the government what they wanted.
It had the provisions mentioned above, no non citizens could receive any Gov benefits etc.
All this talk from the GOP-e and others that say you can't deport 12-20 million people, we don't have enough busses.
What idiots! They will SELF DEPORT if we just enforce the laws on the books at this time.
Many of the illegals that left the states with the new legislation to enforce the laws went back to Mexico.
Many of them went to other states, which are "sanctuary" states and they welcome lawbreakers and will eventually reap the whirlwind of crime and ignoring of laws.
From Amity Schlaes The Forgotten Man on the New Deal, regarding Social Security: "Roosevelt hoped the program would make older workers comfortable with the idea of retiring earlier, leaving more work for younger people." Thus Roosevelt may have hoped for this effect, but it surely was not the reason for the program in the first place.
In context, it seems Will has wildly overstated this supposed motive. Social Security was a major hallmark of Roosevelt's messianic utopian drive to be the savior of the world, and incidentally offer up a huge plum to the senior vote before the 1936 election. Will's muted defense rings hollow in the musty cavern of Roosevelt's grandiose dreams.
If White Unemployment is 6% and Hispanic Unemployment is 10% Rand Paul concludes Hispanics never cost the public purse a cent.
I support local solutions to illegal immigration as protected by the 10th amendment. Clearly, state and local government believe they must take these matters into their own hands, because of the federal government failure, and I support their right to do so.

Rand Paul still has the anti-amnesty stuff he campaigned on his website even after changing it to 2016 and going on a La Raza speaking tour.
I thought Rand said they were natural Republicans.

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky Washington liberals are trying to push through the so-called DREAM Act, which creates an official path to Democrat voter registration for 2 million college-age illegal immigrants.
Youre the one whos arguing the AFL-CIO argument, Will said, noting that the economic dynamism aided by immigrants would help sustain the American workforce. “
You’d see the elitist bastard Will change his tune if the illegals were driving down his wages and threatening his livelihood.
I accept the nomination.
And Will?
But its got to be done piece by piece.

Agree with you on the influx of unassimilable Muslims
I do not agree with you, however, on the “piece by piece” approach.
It only takes some testicular fortitude by the Potemkin “opposition” Party in Congress, which — after all — still has the power of the purse.
Defunding ICE until it begins enforcement of existing laws might be a start.
Bottom line: Secure the border (including a fence — they have been used with good effect for millennia). Enforce existing law. Begin routine deportations. Warn employers they will be fined for hiring illegals.
The Mexicans will begin to self-deport IMMEDIATELY.
Again, you are correct about the Muslims: The poor ones cannot and will not self-deport.
Publicly making an issue by the GOP on the Sunday morning talk shows of the need to deport the illegals here now, as well as to stop the influx of Muslims would do wonders.
However, they are apparently ALL afraid of being tagged as “anti-Mexican,” and “anti-Muslim,” with the possible exception of Rep. King of Iowa.
Will sounded out of step with the base. Laura nailed every point and left everyone else nattering and harumphing.
I have an easier time believing 12 million people coming out of the shadows to go on the dole before any of that other stuff happens.
B$ current law is sufficient, passing more laws that everyone ignore is stupid.
The reason I don't park my car in the handicap zone is there are stiff consequences, and they are enforced. No one is enforcing current immigration law, no one.
Even more amazing are the people that don't believe that they in fact are ruling over us.
