HOUSTON Sen. Rand Paul on Saturday predicted that Texas would turn blue within a decade if the Republican Party doesnt become more inclusive.
What I do believe is Texas is going to be a Democrat state within 10 years if we dont change, Paul (R-Ky.), who grew up in Texas, said at a dinner held by the Harris County GOP. That means we evolve, it doesnt mean we give up on what we believe in, but it means we have to be a welcoming party.

The senator, whose father was a longtime congressman from Texas, acknowledged that immigration reform is a touchy subject before offering his vision for people who want to come to the United States.
We wont all agree on it, he said. But Ill tell you, what I will say and what Ill continue to say, and its not an exact policy prescription but if you want to work and you want a job and you want to be part of America, well find a place for you.
There was some quiet applause in the massive hotel ballroom, in which hundreds of Republicans a mix of high-dollar donors, activists and state officials were gathered. But Paul remarked that the response was kind of tepid.

Buh-bye.
Amnesty will ensure it goes blue. FURP!! NO AMNESTY PIMPS!!
“Texas could turn blue! Let’s give the illegal aliens amnesty in order to stop it!”
Makes lots of sense.
And until we get past meaningless platitudes like this one - patently untrue - and learn to look at the issue objectively we'll never make any progress towards a sustainable solution.
Not ALL immigrants are assets. In fact I'd guess MOST these days are NOT, they are a drag.
He could’ve been a contender.
It is ONLY about the party winning that counts. A message the resonates with a section here at FR.
This does annoy me. We have always been a welcoming party, and we have always been color-blind. What we care about is character and philosophy. If you believe in freedom and the constitution and essential decency, you're one of us.
That Paul thinks he has to lecture us means he doesn't know us. Which for a guy who wants to lead us is odd.
But this is a litmus test issue if ever there was one.
That
Either you have principles, or you don’t. If you need to weaken your principle to appeal to a certain segment of the population, then you are finished as a party.
I guarantee that if the Republicans took a stand against illegals, and sent them all back home, Texas wouldn’t be in danger of turning Blue.
President Eisenhower know how to keep Texas from going Blue.
Just a side thought. In Russia, the word “blue” is a reference to homosexuality. So I guess the Democrats really are the blue party.
No one is immune from Potomac fever. NO......ONE.
We are honestly ... screwed.
Nothing short of MASS deportations would save us now, and the chance of that happening is nearly zero.
Texas IS going to turn blue, trust me on this. Unless the Republican party does SOMETHING to attract the Hispanic vote. I do not believe that amnesty will do it, in fact amnesty will only speed up the process of Texas turning blue.
I honestly don’t know what the answer is.
I've never heard anything about Ron Paul's father to know if Ron sounds like him. But Rand Paul sounds a lot like his father. :-)
Rand Paul was and is an unpredictable weirdo
Rand Paul commits political suicide.
