We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day, he said. An aide then pulled a reporter away before Mr. Kozak could be questioned further on surveillance in hotel rooms. Were doing a tour of the media center, the aide said.

Mr. Kozak is probably in Siberia.
Now THIS I can believe, that the ungovernable, mafioso Russia would do this.
Will the next Olympics be in the DPRK? What a farce!
Somewhere there is an idea exchange going on right now bettween the whitehouse and the NSA. Low flush toilet flow transducers mandate thru the EPA, with transmitters included (just for water flow data/s)
Putin sure does run a tight ship.
It is difficult to describe these Olympics without using the word “cluster”.
why are they deliberately letting the water run all day? Are the reporters trying to cause a drain on the resources?
even in American hotels, if 100 people left their showers running hot all day, it would drain the hot water for everyone else
“Are the reporters trying to cause a drain on the resources?”
Wouldn’t surprise me. Some journalists would do pretty much anything to manufacture a story. Others just make them up.
Sounds like the same stuff the Communist Chinese did in Beijing in 2008 Olympics. ChiComs in Beijing even restricted wi fi and internet access to the media
Now the missing shower curtain stories are starting to make sense. You want bathroom surveillance? Stay at the Riyadh Marriott. At least it was a nice hotel and the water was clean.
Did the maids find the showers running?
But most likely it is prohomosexual journalists, etc who are doing this to make Russia look worse than its workmanship already seems to be.
That would be the idea. See post above.
Are we supposed to be outraged? Shocked? Indignant? Come on, we need to get off our high horse and the media needs to look around them. This is probaby happening here. Oh, that is right, IT IS! We have become them.

After seeing the posted photos of the toxic bright yellow water coming out of the tap I would give them the benefit of the doubt that they were attempting to clear the pipes.

NOT AT ALL ,,, the vast majority of hotels use tankless water heaters that can produce hot water continuously ,, one for each room or cluster of rooms... it saves the hotel immense amounts of money over maintaining hot water for the empty unsold rooms. It is a waste of electricity or natural gas to just let them run however...
NOTHING in the article stated it was HOT water ,,, I’m sticking with “clearing the toxic ooze out of the pipes”.
Well of course they would. Travel to Russia I would expect to be under constant surveillance.
At least the NSA (probably) doesn’t put cameras in bathrooms; yet!
