This is tragic. Really tragic. The truth is that if you live within the wrong districts of Chicago, you are at risk of premature death. Even infants have been killed by stray bullets. Even more tragically, in many cases it is children killing children.
This isn’t about gun control. It’s about the loss of respect for life - any life. While the extreme left (and I include the current administration and many in Congress) is diligently working against any mainstream role of religion in American society, American society suffers the devastating effects of having a diminishing belief in the sanctity of life, and a diminished sense of meaning in life.
When I left Chicago in 1969, this was a very good neighborhood. In fact, we lived about 2 blocks north at 6963 N. Clark. From what I can deduce, there is no longer any safe place in Chicago. You are right in your assessment of where the problem really lies.
