He created the processes that created the rocks, which occurred at different times for the different formations. And, yes, it makes a great deal of sense, when you think about it.
Of course, for an eternal being such as God, the concept of time, as we think of it, has no application.

Limestone is made up of trillions sea creatures that capture calcium as part of their lifecycle and who then die and are crushed into new rock. It’s constantly being created.
