George P. Bush: More than a legacy

AUSTIN, Texas — George Prescott Bush stood among the ladies at the Concho Valley Republican Women’s meeting in San Angelo as they spoke about how attractive the contender for the Texas General Land Office commissioner was.

A Hispanic woman joked in Spanish to him that the boyish man of 37 with a broad smile looked better in person than on TV.

George P. Bush is the nephew of former President George W. Bush and the son of Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida. At the meeting in late September he had already been campaigning for 11 months, having delivered 120 speeches to grass-roots clubs and collected 350 endorsements.

"You've just got to work harder than the next person," Bush said. "That's the key. That's always been the Bush family secret to success."

George P. has a lot to overcome. George W. was one of the worst Presidents in U.S. history. And Barbara’s remarks about Sarah Palin didn’t help any.

Well that and the worship of Lucifer.

He’s making speeches as though he’s running for governor. I’d ask him “What does that have to do with the land commissioner’s duties?”

Bush family secret to success is being a Bush family member. Hell you can get drunk, drive drunk, snort things up your nose that would get a Black man 20 years in jail. But be a Bush, or a Kennedy. You are like Midas! Just another spoiled punk.

Words of wisdom there Darius, words of wisdom. Though it's not just "a black man" - it's anyone without the Bush or Kennedy clans connections and power.

You can sense the smug sense of entitlement every time the brat opens his mouth. On top of that he can play the "Hispanic Card" to the hilt. Watch him milk both the Bush family connections and the minority card for every drop they're worth, and worm his way into high office.

Its sad to see these threads where people degenerate to the level of imitating Jesse Jackson and echoing leftist type insults.

It's even more sad to see people defend liberal politicians just because they happen to have an "R" next to their name rather than a "D".

This whole line of "only leftists criticize Bush" is idiotic beyond belief. Everyone here who criticizes the Bush clan does so because the Bushes are about as far Left as you can go and still have a pretense of being Republicans.

If any Democrat backed the policies of George W. Bush, Jeb, and GP (amnesty for illegals, wasting US tax dollars on aid and "nation building" abroad, support for No Child Left Behind, expanding Medicare/Medicaid coverage, support for TARP, the Energy Bill), you'd be all over them, and rightly so. Ditto for their record of cronyism and corruption.

Unfortunately, party affiliation and good old boy loyalty seems to trump principle and ideology for many. Luckily, that's starting to fade.

Nice to see something written that is coherent rather than a bunch of Occupy and Jesse Jackson slogans.

I’m not going to support Jeb.

As far as George P., I’m not in Texas. He will probably hit the national arena in 10 years or so. Obviously this Land post is his first foray in to a run for Governor. Then he’d be going for presidency in 2028 or so.

Let’s wait and see the relation he develops with Ted Cruz and other conservatives in Texas over the next decade.

What I really can’t fathom are the people who thought that Mitt Romney was completely unacceptable in the last election yet love George W. Bush and his clan to death. What was the real difference between the two, apart from Romney being a little smarter and more articulate?

John-John was a hunk as well, and dumber than a post. Couldn't pass the NY bar exam multiple times. Probably was tutored as well.

Looks don't make for a good leader. Looks, along with connections and money override smarts.

Damn straight!

That means no more Roosevelts, Stevensons, Daleys, Kennedys, Bushes, Clintons, Coumos, Bidens, but also no more Pauls and Cheneys, too.

Any and each family in the US gets one shot at a leadership position, then is forfeit for at least a century.

We fought a Revolution to get rid of a monarch and aristocracy, and we need to stop it again.
