I think what she found was that one or two local Democratic groups in the district...already had their guy or gal in mind, and saw her as more of a threat than a candidate. They probably suggested that they wouldn’t help with her campaign if she won the primary, and since Waxman wasn’t much of a winner in the last campaign....it’d mean problems down the road.

She’ll stick around for a year or two...get into state politics, and might be prime-time in a decade.

Comrade Fluke has been told by the state party apparatus another comrade has served the party well and has been chosen to replace Waxman. She will be allowed to enter politics at the state level. If she continues to serve the party well her turn will come for a congressional seat. Note the wording of her announcement. She has submitted and will serve (obey).
