This is why I don’t take walk in work anymore. Most are deadbeats or cheapskates.

Seems to me a couple more phone calls are in order. Otherwise consider yourself ripped off and give it to the debt collectors. I have been ripped off for a lot more than that and it just sucks. It is one of the hazards of self employment. You have my sympathies and I have been in the same boat many times.

Thanks for your message. This is the first time in eleven years of freelancing that this has happened. The debt collectors gave it back to me, and they say it’s not worth bringing a lawsuit. For me, personally, it’s not worth going to small claims court, either, because it’s just not ultimately worth the time and effort, and cost. And even with a judgment in my favor, getting them to pay is another matter. I may just have to give up, but not before I exact some price from her with the complaints on The Squeaky Wheel and the Ripoff Report. It was at the latter site that the collection found me and solicited me for my business. Had she paid, they’d have gotten a third. I am really small potatoes in the end. Anyway. I almost hope she sues me so I can go to court and have a jury decide the issue.
