In the defense of the victim, he is paralyzed for life, and he will need expensive care for however long that is.

It’s not really his fault that the courts will eventually stick the manufacturer with the bill when his idiot relations are found not to have two nickles to rub together.

It’s been how these cases have been decided for a long, long time. At least in this state.

They get stuck or the taxpayer gets stuck. Life is unfair.

Considering that he filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer, I'm not sure I agree. His idiot relations are perfectly capable of providing the routine 24/7 care that he needs, and it's their moral obligation to do so personally if they can't pay for the consequences of their own actions. Making a blameless third party pay, simply because they can, makes no sense. Life is unfair, but government should not be complicit in exacerbating that unfairness.
