Oh. From the other thread. Haven’t found it yet. I just remember there was an apparently young girl born in the middle ages to an alchemist father who discovered an elixer of life that only worked before puberty, suppressed puberty, broke down if exposed to light, and this kid had been hanging out at the fringes for centuries. Wasn’t there for any of the major event (what kid is?) but did smell tear gas once in Berkeley in the 60’s. Pretty thin criteria for a web search. I think I read the story in Analog, and thought it was by David Palmer (not the correct author apparently).

When I get home I might wade through my Analog collection and see if anything rings a bell.
