A seismometer inside a borehole at Yellowstone National Park has begun reporting staggering underground activity near the southwest corner of Yellowstone Lake, possibly signaling the beginning of an eruption of the Super Volcano at the Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park is home to many beauties, with its ancient landscape, geysers, and hot springs. It is also the site of one of the worlds most destructive forces. A supervolcano.

Interesting, sober link. I noticed this, which we won't see from the Chicken Littles:
"However, recent research shows the global impacts of supervolcanoes are less severe than scientists once thought, and a Yellowstone supereruption might be especially unimposing because its magma contains minimal sulfur. Sulfur gas produces particles called aerosols, which can cool the climate by blocking sunlight."

I live in Western North Dakota. If this thing goes off, our ranch could become a ski resort.

“Yes it could....like wipe out half of the US.
It is nothing to be made fun of, as I see many FReepers doing.”
And you are worried why? Oh, that is right you might loose your SS check and have to start roaming the jungles cutting native fruit and trying to sell on the open market.
Oh and by the way if this does happen you will not be safe in your lil turd world country. The ash cloud will ring the earth. When starvation kicks in the non-believers will be pot-luck dinners for the muzzies——bwhahahahahaha.
You might consider convertin’ over to Islam if you haven’t already.

Why would he “convert to Islam” in the what is possibly the most Catholic country in the world? Where did you get the idea that the Philippines is an Islamic nation? As for his Social Security check -— if he paid into the program, which I assume he did, doesn’t he deserve his retirement funds? Won’t you file for SS when the time comes, if you haven’t already?

If it was Gods wrath, Im sure hed pick something that would include Washington DC. No. We created Washington D.C. We allowed it to run us into debt. It is up to us to correct it. Having God bail us out is a good fantasy, but we owe this problem.

Do you think bedbugs and cockroaches would survive it? Keith Richards would survive it.
To: Spartan302
Unlikely. At least for a while. Warmer pacific currents keep the coastal regions relatively temperate in the south, and those would not see effects until the oceans cooled. Prevailing winds would shift slightly toward the hot spot that the eruption would maintain, but I think the general effects would not be immediate. It might be hard to book passage or get a flight, though.
As for me, moving west or south would take me into the thick of things--I'd be stuck with a more northerly and eastward route.

He’s probably already collected more than he paid in FICA taxes.
And when he dies, we’ll be paying Survivor’s Benefits to his widow for decades.

~7.5 miles is doable... as long as you’re not drilling into a magma chamber.

How is that different from you or I? No one on this forum was around to set-up the Social Security system, hell, my late father was a child at the time and I'm no spring chicken. Don't like the SS set-up? Work on changing it, don't get riled at people following the current rules. With millions abusing food stamps, TANF, Section 8, Medicaid and other programs they didn't pay into, I have a hard time worrying about SS retirement recipients. BTW, when I was a VA work/study in the 1980's, we were still paying survivor benefits to CIVIL WAR widows.

I hadn’t heard/ read that it was going to take the grid down, too. I’m really not into doom porn much, seeing as how I can’t control what happens & all.
