We’ll probably have flying saucer type undersea vessels before they can launch one. It’ll be the 21st Century version of the Brewster F2A Buffalo, obsolete before it’s in service.

It looks like the kenyan will have eliminated nuclear weapons in the USA by the time this submarine is launched.

The old army could have built a submarine for the navy in 6 months.

What a stupid article! GD is going to invest $150 mil to get in on a $1.85 billion contract. That does sound like a deal. However, this boat is supposed to be ready in almost 20 years! Wow, it will probably cost $1.85 trillion by then.
And what is this BS about “the days of sequestration and reductions”? The sequester was nothing and there are no reductions at all. What a pant load.

The Ohio class boomers are 560 feet long.
They are going to carry essentially the same payload...

These boats are to be replacements for the Ohio class submarines. Forgive my ignorance, but why do the Ohio class submarines need replacing?

Stuff wears out...and the hulls are only certifiable for so many years and dive cycles. And technically they do become obsolete.
