Use That Pen To Approve Keystone XL Pipeline Jobs, Mr. President

The shovel-ready pipeline from Canada gets yet another clean bill of health as yet another State Department review says it will have negligible environmental impact, unlike the crude-carrying trains that are replacing it.

President Obama promised in the State of the Union that 2014, his sixth year in office, would be a "year of action" on jobs, unlike the first five that saw the labor force participation rate sink to its lowest level in decades.

In his weekly radio address on Jan. 18, he said he wanted "to work with Congress this year on proven ways to create jobs, like building infrastructure."

In our book, pipelines count as infrastructure and if the president means what he says, which is admittedly always in doubt, he will pick up that phone and that pen he promised to wield and approve what is perhaps the most shovel-ready and studied construction-job creator since Egypt's pyramids.

He has run out of excuses after yet another State Department review released Friday found that the project would have no real impact on climate change because the Canadian crude it would transport is going to be extracted from the oil sands of Alberta whether the pipeline is built or not.

The review found that the "approval or denial of any single project is unlikely to significantly affect the rate of extraction of the oil in the oil sands, or the refining of heavy crude on the U.S. Gulf Coast," a State Department official told reporters Friday.

The hopefully final review found, just like a draft released last March, that the pipeline would not accelerate global greenhouse-gas emissions or significantly harm the natural habitats along its route.

President “O” a%$ hat needs to step away from the TV and especially stop watching the History Chanel... (I always say the History Chanel is History for people who DON’T know any History).

He needs to start getting his ideas and information from factual sources.

The ‘infrastructure rebuild’ is an excessively OVER stated issue and certainly NOT the primary US problem right now.

Obama will not approve the Keystone Pipeline, but will pander to the environmental whackos by “studying” the issue further delaying any possible approval until 2016 when hopefully Obama will be leaving office. In the meantime Canada will build its own pipeline transporting this oil to their west coast ports where it will be loaded into tankers and shipped to China. It is ironic that in stopping the Keystone Pipeline environmentalists will be assuring that this oil will be used in China where they do not give a rats posterior about the environment and will dump far more carbon into the atmosphere that would ever have been allowed in the US.

Welcome to our world in New York State. Andrew Cuomo and his predecessor, David Patterson have been using this tactic for NOT APPROVING Shale Oil hydrofracking for years, even as neighboring Pennsylvania has been fracking for the same amount of time with virtually no environmental problems.

If that's true, and I don't dispute it, it only underscores that the motive for opposition to the pipeline is not environmental concerns nearly as much as it is to prevent its benefit to the United States.

Welcome to our world in New York State. Andrew Cuomo and his predecessor, David Patterson have been using this tactic for NOT APPROVING Shale Oil hydrofracking for years, even as neighboring Pennsylvania has been fracking for the same amount of time with virtually no environmental problems."

But Hollywood will continue to put out movies with Matt Damon with fictional scenarios where groundwater is soured and the fracking causes earthquakes. This is where legislative brinkmanship needs to come into play and we don't have the intellectual firepower to do it. Yes hold the President hostage on other stuff until he approves this and do it in a way he save face. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this pipeline supposed to allow us to rid ourselves of Mideast oil period, no more sweet crude from the ME. Makes you wonder if Obama's fellow Muslims told him where his bread is buttered. Either that or the ChiComs are scared with the impending flop in their economy ad the resulting social upheaval, having us flipping our trade deficit and telling the Magic Negro to just say no to Keystone. This is a no brainer for Obama, billions in revenue, jobs and him looking like a hero. But logic does not rule Obama's brain, he's evil in a biblical sense.
