You have a good point. It’s gotta work better than those filmstrips we had when I was in school. I used to pore over those to make sure I was learning how to do drugs properly. And stuff.

Before they got Disneyfied, children's stories were often this gory. Their goal was to scare the crap out of children and drill into them to do the right thing, or at least not to do the wrong thing.
Pinocchio is a public service message about staying in school. His father sends him to school, and along the way he skips it to join a marionette show, and is taken prisoner.

Remember in Little Red Riding hood, the woodsman showed up to hack grandma out of the belly of the wolf with an axe.

When faced between taking the flashlight with the defective switch or the double barrel chainsaw grenade launcher... The teen that picks taking the flashlight is normally the first to go.

Skipping was perfect when one of our friends worked student project in the admittance office. He stamped a bunch of readmittance cards and all you had to do was have each teacher sign it throughout the day.
I hear they dumped that paper system for GPS tracking.

If they couldn’t read at that point of their lives, they should be skipping school! :-)

Perhaps this was made to make ‘stay in school’ types look like idiots.
It succeeded.

Thanks! I tried to find it using ‘Australian car safety commercial’ instead of New Zealand. Duh!!!
I’ll have to come back to this one later.
