He probably would-a practiced his draw that mornin outside of town, before moseyin on in.

Most gunfights did not happen as depicted on the fantasy of the television or movie western.
There are some people who are scary good with guns when drunk, at least one western gunfighter, Ben Thompson, got into virtually all his gunfights when drunk, and was incredibly effective. He killed at least seven men that were recorded. Four of those were pretty nearly straight out murders, all of them after the war between the states.
