I got a little worse than a beating in 1974, at 25; I still carry the .32cal next to my spine, to this day. It won't happen a second time, as Mr kimber 1911 .45cal ACP always goes along. Walking away from that robbery/shooting was a miracle.

Happy to hear that. It's not just surviving, but being able to recover. One of my son-in-laws was jumped by several black punks and got stabbed multiple times in the chest not long after graduating from high school. He almost didn't make it out of intensive care, and made a full recovery. He has the scars on his chest to remember that incident every day. A lot of this stuff happens, but the media says it's minor; we know different, especially when it happens to you.
