I’d like to remodel the NFL into what the Germans do with their two leagues of soccer.

You put eighteen teams up into the top league. At the end of the season...rig up some championship series with the top four teams. The worst three teams of the league? They get kicked down to the 2nd league...where ticket prices are less, players are on a much lesser pay scale, and you generally never see more than 20,000 fans at any game. The top three teams of the second league? They rise up into the upper league, to get their chance at the big time.

It puts pressure on teams to maintain a good roster, and avoid losses at all costs. It also put tons of incentives on players to deliver, or be stuck with a 2nd league team next year...which means less pay and less airing on TV.

The NFL needs a gimmick like this...because it’s overloaded now with marginal players who ought to be managing a Piggly Wiggly...and not pretending to be a tight end for the Bengals.

Agreed

College players that are physically gifted and bright enough to get useful degree and a good job are going to shun the NFL, especially in light of all the recent concussion awareness stories.

What’s left will be the players with physical talents and no brains to begin with. (AKA Felons)
