“.. throughout the process of helping the motorist I felt uncomfortable..”

I am afraid that is where we are in today’s society. We can no longer see a motorist who needs help (a knock at the door asking for help or any other situation) and do the “Christian” thing. We now have to really evaluate the situation and I am afraid to say this but... we have to look at the age/race/gender and put that into the equation as well. For what it is worth... the guy was a jerk for not thanking you.

Every state has a #/2 digit state police cell phone number.

Call it, give them the location of the stranded driver and keep driving.

Too many setups and ambushes these days and almost everyone has a cell phone of their own to call for help anyway and shouldn’t be needing to ask strangers.

If somebody knocks on my door looking for help [unlikely] I’m going to say, through the still-locked door, “Yeah, I’ll call for help but you can’t come inside. My dogs will tear you apart.”

We’ll see if they wait around for the cops.
