Well considering that your posts often suggest that we will all be forced to become complete Amish soon, I gotta say, following yours posts and posts of similar Freepers, if anything, often aid in increasing one’s suicidal depression. Especially considering that many of us, on top of everything we are stuck fighting with, are simply not in a position where they could ever be able to turn Amish on short notice of any kind. About 90 % of Americans a re in a situation where that is just not possible.
JRandomFreeper is not rare at all. Many here in Texas are capable of being totally self sufficient. Not that I think it makes sense under current conditions. But none of us can predict the future.
Should we have a global financial collapse, Texas could go it on it’s own. And many of the citizens are capable of picking up the pieces and surviving.
I assure you my ancestors understood this well. There are still oral traditions not in history books that are remembered from those times.
Every year many in the South & West eat dried blackeyed peas and greens for good luck. And to never forget those times when that was all that was left for our ancestors to eat.
