NBC Nightly devoted ONE THIRD of their Nightly News to this story (7&1/2 minutes) with two correspondents, including their flabby red head reporterette. I can't believe how biased them are.

and RINOs keep bringing the blackmail charge that conservatives embarass them... this is really rich.

RINOs destroyed the GOP.

If the purpose to be served is to clear the path for a conservative front-runner, there are at least two problems with that. Removing Christie this early in the process simply gives the enemy more time to destroy the batter on deck.

The other problem is that this is a distraction. As I noted in my original post, the dinosaur media is using this as an excuse not to cover the many scandals and failings of BH0, every single one of which is far more serious than anything Christie has done.

You want to talk about a real Christie scandal? OK, how about this: a number of exit polls found low-information voters claimed they voted for Zero based on his "magnificent handling" of the Hurricane Sandy aftermath. That "magnificent handling" consisted almost entirely of walking around with the morbidly obese governor of New Jersey and promising to hand out money.

Now we know that Christie's slobbering performance was entirely a result of his being passed over for VP. That's a real scandal. Our presumptive nominee [admittedly quite far out] is a man who deliberately harmed his party and hurt the chances of our nominee. Now, I don't care how you feel about Romney or the GOPe, how can our front-runner POSSIBLY be someone we know is a turncoat bastard? The Stupid Party can't just be morons in Washington if that's what our polls are telling us.

This other thing is just the MSM doing what they do: attacking Republicans and hurting our brand. Nope, we shouldn't allow it. If we're going to get rid of Christie [and by damn we SHOULD get rid of Christie] we should do it on the basis of his positions and his betrayal, and not this stupid non-scandal.

"Nobody has yet shown that Crusty knew of intentional closures perpetrated for political vendetta."

"True, there is a huge difference between knowing the lanes were closed, and knowing it was done for political revenge. A point that seems to be missed by a lot of people."

"NBC Nightly devoted ONE THIRD of their Nightly News to this story (7&1/2 minutes) with two correspondents, including their flabby red head reporterette. I can't believe how biased them are."

Because .... because they have a letter from a lawyer that suggests that a politician lied? Not accused of having broken any laws -- just that he might have lied?

I've been saying that I don't think Christie is either nominable or electable, and the Republican bench behind Christie is a lot stronger than the Democrat bench behind Hillary.

Hillary must be in worse shape than any of us imagine.

Yes they have.
Pat Buchanan’s latest article writes about this.

Fred I’m not sure of the tenor of your post. I totally agree with what you say about the timing, the Sandy stuff, and the motivations of the media.

I still say this is a good thing for conservatives, and the media had no intention of doing anything good for conservatives in this case. The jurassic media does not fully understand the conservative/Republican split.

How did Rush characterize it; It's the seriousness of the charge, not the accuracy of the information...

Tenor is always problematic in written communication. Be sure my frustration is not directed at you, or any fellow FReeper.

The point is: Christie is a worthless gasbag, but he's "our" worthless gasbag. We should be the ones to get rid of him, during our primary process. If Christie gets through that [and without this scandal maybe he would] then the major problem with our party is not Washingtonitis or Beltway Disease -- it's something a lot worse: it's that a majority of Republicans are idiots. And that certainly seems to be the indication based on the polls we had before this [largely manufactured] scandal began.

Secondarily, and far less importantly, I'm not sanguine that we should aid an evil intent even to serve a good purpose. I think the Law of Unintended Consequences has a tendency to be more rigidly enforced in those cases.

I don’t disagee really with anything that you said…except that maybe Christie is not really “our” gasbag…..at least, not if “we” means conservatives. Christie is really more one of “them” - by his own choice - and I do enjoy the irony.

As for aiding the evil intent to serve a good purpose? They’re gonna do it anyway….so I am not aiding it, but I am enjoying it. And while it’s not Bengazi or the IRS scandal or F/F - it is using the levers of government to punish your political enemies. That’s corrupt, period.
