The real dirty secret is that there were far more of these birds when there were more cows. Sage grouse does not live by sage alone. The bird needs soil disturbance to create niches for the grasses and forbs that supply its food. Cows supply that disturbance and also fertilize the grasses and plant the seed with their hooves. Sage grouse are also getting their nests hammered by crows.

This is a problem that will respond to management. Therefore the government's prescription will be "no management."

Government causes net harm to the environment and so more of it just means more harm. We need to transfer federal lands to state management...and then into private hands.
