Racism plays a small role. By far the biggest objection is economic. With the Great Obama Depression spiraling down and more down with no end in sight before 2016 at least, most Americans don’t want to be forced to compete with twenty million new workers just to try to get jobs. Stop depressing the economy, let Americans get back to work, and then propose something reasonable about immigration.
