The Republicans had all but secured the Senate in 2012 before the convention, but completely botched the general election by failing to plan a unified national ticket. Each race was left to its own, and Romney offered no coattails to support the local State races.

The GOP went from a gain of 7 to a loss of 2 in the last two months. Can they do it again in 2014?

It’s the same folks running the GOP show. I wouldn’t bet against that happening again.

Romney’s not here to botch it. He should have lead them to victory. Where were his contacts? No military, intelligence or political insiders to help guide the campaign. He let Obama get away with Benghazi and didn’t recognize how critical it was to coordinate his message with the Senate races. It was stupid, but I don’t exclusively blame Romney. Conservatives were fractured and refused to coalesce. I think that’s been fixed going forward and for the better.
