Former Republican Sen. John W. Warner on Monday endorsed his Democratic successor over a past national GOP chairman in the race for the U.S. Senate seat he held for 30 years.
Warner told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that he is supporting Sen. Mark Warner, who is being challenged by Ed Gillespie in November's election. The Warners are not related.

Or it could be an attempt to give Gillespie 'street cred' with Tea Party folks. Gillespie is a total Republican Establishment Insider.
Every time a RINO bits the dust a founding father gets his wings.
As if more were needed.
The good news is that Dems care enough to seek his endorsement. Mark Warner is a phony conservative whose record is about to catch up with him. He’s one of many non-native Virginians given wealth and position so they can erode Virginia’s conservative base. Virginia is in deep trouble with their current executive officers and this may be one of a few if not the only chance to right the state.
LOL!
Every time a Rat wins a demon gets a pitchfork.
They are now.
What on Earth has my home state become? I left about 10 years ago and my has it changed. Met Warner on many occasions. I am surprised and saddened.
Meh I hope you’re correct but I doubt it. Mostly thanks to NOVA, VA has changed radically and is only going to become more and more blue.
A sad day.
That old faggot was always a democrat in republican’s clothes.
Yes...Taylor acted as his beard for a time.
He was at my graduation from Navy Boot Camp in 1970. He was Sec of the Navy. Never did like him.
Once again, RINOs (YES, Governor HUCKABEE - RINOs) demonstrate they are MORE DANGEROUS than Democrats.
They get to vote in Congressional GOP Caucuses, they get to run candidates in GOP Primaries, they get to call conservative Republicans ‘too conservative” so they can support Democrat candidates, they eat up Tea Party and conservative party members campaign contributions which are better spent on conservatives in other districts.
This dirtball SHOULD be cut off from any future GOP campaign support - but he WON’T be - as long as OTHER RINO SLIME controls the party leadership. FLUSH THEM OUT in the next primary!!!
Warner confirms voting for a moderate is voting for a democrat.
I notice those who criticize ideological purity don’t condemn Republicans who endorse democrats.
We have to absolutely starve the GOP of funds. I hang up on them when they call.
“I notice those who criticize ideological purity dont condemn Republicans who endorse democrats.”
Bingo!! Exactly!! John Warner will never be told by a certain minority leader that he is working to prevent a republican majority (as McConnell says of the Senate Conservatives Fund)!!
Because marbles in his mouth McConnell and John Warner are friends, and both work to undermine conservatism so they’re peas in a pod.
Same bastard that endorsed the dem when Oliver North was running!!
You and your ilk would RATHER have a PURE EVIL DEMOCRAT than a not so pure DECENT Republican.....idiocy.....NO ONE IS PERFECT EXCEPT JESUS CHRIST!! EVEN YOU don't Agree with Yourself 100% of the time!!!
You’re talking awfully loud, Ann.
I hear you. And I think highly of you, which you should know. I just disagree.
People like those I mentioned have sold us down the river too many times. We just keep on taxin’ n spendin’ n immigratin’ and slouching toward chaos.
I have voted many times for candidates that I didn’t like. I will do it again, I’m sure.
I think it’s simply high time we face the fact that men and women like these don’t have our best interests at heart, or for that matter the best interests of our country.
So...you’re saying you would vote for John Warner again if given a chance? Or that you will be just as happy with Mark Warner?
