If the wreck happens immediately after passing the switch ... I'd agree.

The analogy doesn't work with slow moving politics.

Many laws are passed that don't take effect until years later.

A lot of damage is done with the precident of a passed law.

I agree, but the concept applies to both. Sometimes doing NOTHING is the best course. The myriad of problems we have with BIG government intrusion in our lives is because people insisted that the FedGov “do something” when, in fact, it’s outside the scope of the FedGov’s mission statement (constitution).
