Hold on just a second. This is not the problem of the "rock" genre, this is a popular culture issue. There are PLENTY of rock bands preaching the word of God and love and strength during hard times. To brand "rock music" as problematic is short-sighted and extreme.
As far as I'm concerned, none of the crap celebrated in the Grammys last night qualifies as rock music.
I used to think there was good and bad rock music. But when you think about it, all of today’s “music” evolved from early rock, from the Beatles Strawberry Fields to Jaggers Sympathy with the Devil. To me, saying there is good rock is like saying Obamacare is terrible, but Karl Marx was alright.
Rockers went to Afghanistan and Iraq to entertain... the pop culture never did.
