I don’t get it.

Here we have a nice article detailing why it should be a good year for conservatives at the ballot box. Yet.....most of the comments are quite negative. I’m not carried away with euphoria about the posible 2014 prospects but this thread has mostly dark and gloomy replies.

I reckon this supports the belief that many people have an inherently negative outlook and thus desire blame and conflict over tranquility.

Their glass is half-empty always. Every silver-lining conceals a rancid underbelly, etc.

Because we see the GOP, with a golden opportunity before it, doing everything they possibly can to squander it. From the ridiculous budget deals to the insensible amnesty push, the GOP is acting like a party that doesn't want to be in the majority.

Because we been there and done that. We've watched time after time as the pubbies screw it up and lose. It's almost as if they have a death wish.

I reckon we'll hold the House in November. But I doubt we can take the Senate.

Too much vote fraud by the RATS. Prolly more voter fraud in November that we've ever seen before. Why? Because the RATS know the pussy pubbies won't call them on it. We have an unfortunate track record.

Always be a pessimist, that way you’re never disappointed.

We’ve seen this movie before. The electorate hasn’t suddenly gotten any smarter.

“Yet.....most of the comments are quite negative.”

It’s much easier to give up and do nothing than for conservatives to get off their lazy, fat butts and get active. These people worship Mammon and prefer to make money rather than secure freedom for themselves and their children. They’re also incredibly myopic and care only about national elections. Meanwhile, commies have taken over their local village and county boards, yet conservatives are too damn lazy to show up at a village meeting and protest property taxes or the taking of their property rights.

I was in local politics for nearly 20 years, and asking conservatives to show up at a village meeting was like asking vampires to attend a sunrise worship service.

Well.. we were sure.. absolutely positive the dems would be booted out of the Senate in 2012 because they were defending so many seats, vs. the GOP.. and the Repubs ended up losing a net of two. If I've learned one thing about electoral politics, it's that American voters will find a way to bust your bubble.

Based on current trends and the fact Americans seem to eventually capitulate to the tax and regulatory burdens of big-government initiatives, not to mention the likelihood at least one sure-fire win will be torpedoed by an ill-timed gaffe by a well-meaning neophyte (e.g. Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock), the gains will be modest when it all shakes out.
