We sold lump and stoker coal from our wash plant when I was mine manager for $50/ton. Usually, the buyer drove a pickup and we took extra care with our Cat 980.
Then one winter, we had a buyer arrive in a station wagon. I helped him hand load lump coal.

I loved that lump coal. An old time dealer used carry 1 lb nuggets here, but he finally retired. So much less work than burning wood, and that’s if you can find wood that will burn at this time of year. With the price of propane now you could pay for a coal stove in week or two!
