This case would be a perfect vehicle to give Roberts and Alito an opportunity to reverse McConnell v. FEC, thereby overturning McCain-Feingold and perhaps all of campaign finance reform. Which is nothing other than a blatant violation of the First Amendment.
That’s another win this could bring us. I think the publicity tied to the IRS issue is a winner with the mushy middle. Abuse of power, etc. doesn’t sit well with the voters.
This is another opportunity here: “D’Souza was released on a $500,000 bond”. That’s not excessive? He only has to put down $50K AFAIK, but he’s a flight risk?
