The fact that John Kennedy was not a Leftist didn’t make him a conservative. Other than his desire to reduce tax rates I can’t think of any policy he supported that appealed to conservatives of that day.
When John Kennedy was President Barry Goldwater defined conservatism. John Kennedy was a conventional liberal internationalist which was the mainstream position of both Democrats and Republicans in the early 60s.
