Look for major flooding on the Red river in Fargo and Grand Forks. Most rivers in the US flow from cold to warm, and so the downstream thaws first. The Red flows from warm to cold - into Hudson Bay. All the thawing water flows into frozen flatlands, or at least it tries to. That coupled with lots of snow portends of major floods.

It all depends on how much snow, how fast the snow melts and if the water backs up in Winnipeg. I was there in ‘97 and I think they had a record amount of snow and then it got really warm and melted very fast. I was relatively young and it seemed like a big adventure at the time.

The rivers in Pittsburgh look fairly solid. If we have a fast thaw and spring rains it might cause problems for downtown. Also people park on the warf and if that closes, then good luck parking.
