We were forced to spend an extra day on a beach in Tortola, BVI, because our airport was closed.

Yup. Increases one’s respect for the early polar explorers and their wooden ships.

I am amazed.
I thought it was far too polluted to freeze.

interfering with traffic on the river
ONLY people in NY and NJ give a flip about the traffic jam on GWB but there has been a media blitz and DOJ investigation now.
You'd think four people had been killed instead of traffic lane blocked for 4 hours.
that's for what!

The rivers in Pittsburgh look fairly solid. If we have a fast thaw and spring rains it might cause problems for downtown. Also people park on the warf and if that closes, then good luck parking.

I’ve lived in and around NYC my whole life (pity me, please; and pray that I escape soon), and I still can’t figure out how to tell the difference between a Chris Christie-lane closure traffic jam on the GWB and a regular, everyday, run-of-the mill lane closure traffic jam on the GWB.

Exactly! And I don't like Christie but...
I dislike the media more.

News Flash: An angry crowd has surrounded the Hotel in New York City where its reported that Al Gore is staying...
Journalists on scene say the crowd is very unruly and made up mostly of well diggers, witches and brass monkeys

I’m not a fan, either, but this is just ridiculous. There is traffic — BAD traffic — on the GWB literally every single day. When I have to travel it, I leave my house on Long Island at 3:00am so I don’t have to deal with it.
Same for coming home; I time it so I arrive at the GBW in the weeeeeee small hours of the morning. I’m talking Zero-Dark-Thirty here. LOL

Traffic is a major headache in every large metropolitan area. The media only sees theirs.
I think it's great they are getting rid of Christie for us! LOL!

Actually it is Brooklyn and Queens that is across the East River from Manhattan. If you want to go to New Jersey, you have to cross the Hudson.
Consider this my free geography lesson for you. No charge.
