Breaking News: Judge orders Texas hospital to remove life support from brain-dead pregnant woman.
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
I have to ask which is playing God? Keeping the woman alive artificially or allowing her to die naturally? If a pregnant woman was in a car wreck and died on the way to the hospital, should “modern medicine” keep her alive until the child is born?
I have mixed emotions on this. And I’m sincere when I ask “When are we playing God and when are we getting out of God’s way?”
Per Fox News, the baby was not getting enough oxygen to develope properly.
This is a very difficult situation. Do you believe we have the technology to sustain life because God allows it? Because He has the power to start and end life as He sees fit.
I think everyone involved needs to be covered in prayer.
But is there insurance to collect????
Let it be known to the world, NEVER keep me alive by artificial means. I’d like to die on the day God has already chosen.
Is it that they love death or they love tax-free insurance from the dead?
Make sure you have a legal document written up and make sure you include that if you are pregnant you want your baby to die also.
Thank you for your reasoned response. This family, not just the husband but BOTH sets of parents and siblings, are united against this unwarranted intrusion during the most heart-wrenching times a family can face. Please spare them the vitriol being heaped upon them. I have only prayers for the family. May they find peace in the coming days.
I just put it in writing. Isn’t a post on freerepublic consider a legal document? If not, it should be.
It’s only a “reasoned response” because you agree with it. I have prayers for the baby and the mom, period.
You forgot the part about your wanting your baby to die with you.
Agree 100%. There are sometimes you just have to let go. It does the pro life movement no good to argue keeping a brain dead woman on a respirator because it is God's will to have a baby born with severe mental and physical deformities.
It may be both but liberals are in love with death. I truly believe that. Also, there will be no death taxes because her husband is still alive.
I have no idea what is right and wrong here......glad it’s not my decision. Should it be mine, I would most likely bring the baby to term and let whatever happens happen. If doctors are right, the baby will not survive even then. My heart breaks for this family. They need our prayers.
I look at it this way, If the mother is dead and a unborn child is alive, what harm does it do to wait until the child is viable for delivery?
Why do we need a court to dictate this. Why not wait a few more weeks, deliver the child and take it from there?
If the mother is brain dead, all this is unnoticed by her.
The slippery slope by allowing leftists to decide who is really dead is a scary one. I am sure they would set the lowest bar available to determine a “death”.
If I have a baby it’ll walk on water. And we know that’s not going to happen.
But what about my question where a pregnant woman is in a car accident and dies on the way to the hospital. What should be done?
I agree with it because I have heard the facts of the case. Just because the facts in the case are diametrically opposed to your point of view does not give you or anyone else the right to attack or belittle those with a differing point of view. We are all entitled to our own point of view. We are not, however, entitled to our own facts.
Yeas, but do we know those that have determined that this child will be a veg really know this child will be a veg? Or is it more convenient to declare the unborn child so?
We live in a different world now. We no longer can trust the “experts”, especially when it comes to health care. The culture of death is running the railroad now. Think about it.
This is a rare situation to be sure...in such cases I do believe fully the next of kin should make the call. With the medical training they’ve had they certainly have the understanding of the entire situation. We are limited in what we know.
I also believe whatever the family decided that God would be with them in that.
This is one of those cases which should have remained private.
