The very fact that mc cain has been in office for so long says that there’s enough republicans in Arizona that willingly back mc cain and his ideology. McCain is a symptom, not a cause.

Very true. That screwed up run for the Presidency should have removed ALL doubt from the minds of the ‘undecided’.

That they then went and reelected him to the Senate just shows how much NO ONE learned.

If not a ‘law’ law, there should be an unwritten law that once the person gets nominated and starts his campaign for the next higher office, he/she should resign so that
A/ He/She can put full time and attention to running and
B/ The Constituents can be fully represented while their Senator/Congressman/Dog Catcher is running for Pres or VP.

Since we don’t encourage that, the least the candidate should do is have his prospective cabinet picked prior to the election....his picks (other than VP) would not have to resign.

If nothing else, Bob Dole did the right thing by giving up his seat.
