What always strikes me is that when you drive through Chicagblo, there is not a decent strech of road to be found and there are toll booths every 50 feet to separate you from your money.
The money s presumably to fix the roads.
Then you cross into Wisconsin and voila! the roads are nice, and uncluttered with highwayman tollbooths!

Some years ago, I was living in Wisconsin, and occasionally drove back to Western PA for short visits.
I recall thinking how silly it was to have to throw money in a basket every five minutes on the Chicago tollway.
