Police on Thursday released surveillance video of the events Sunday night leading up to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Amber Long. Long was walking with her mother on the 900 block of North Front Street in Northern Liberties when, shortly after 10:30 p.m., two unknown men approached and tried to grab both women’s purses. One of the men fired a shot, striking Amber in the chest. She died at Hahnemann University Hospital. The suspects were last seen fleeing north on Front Street in a newer model, possibly four-door Chevrolet Impala. That vehicle was caught on camera and released to the public, along with portions of the purse-snatching.

My heart goes out to the mother and family. A terrible loss. If I ever see two hooded blacks coming at me and separating I’m pulling well in advance. Then we’ll see who going to be ending up dead on the pavement.
I am willing to bet the Mom (she was mugged also) knows this info but it always seems like its absent from any news reporting.

I am in no way blaming the victim but I would not be walking around like that at 10:30 at night. The report said they were going to get Amber’s car. I didn’t hear any other details. Curious as to why her car was there and why her mother was with her. Need more details.

Philadelphia is a toilet. 60 years of LIBERAL DEMOCRAT rule has made it that way. I live 25 miles from Center City Philthadelphia and avoid going there at all costs.
North Philadelphia is an open drug market. Folks from all over the east coast drive there for Heroin. The DEMOCRAT Mayor and DEMOCRAT City officials do next to nothing to shut it down.

This caused problems quite a few years back when a citizen thwarted a robbery by pulling a gun. The robbers took off, stopped the first policeman they found, pointed at the citizen and said...”HE’S GOT A GUN!”
The cop then went after the citizen while the robbers escaped.
But, but... City Council has been so supportive of making Philly a gay-friendly destination, and of ridding the town of those bigoted Boy Scouts and pesky small businesses and people who think gambling casinos are a public nuisance...
