When I was in college more than 20 years ago, I attended one of D'Souza's speeches. I thought he was brilliant.

I am disappointed at him for violating campaign laws. There is no excuse for what he did. I am even more disappointed at him for getting engaged to a woman while he was still married to his wife. There is no excuse for his actions in either of these things.

I don’t think anyone is saying he didn’t violate the law. I’ll wait to see what his sentence is before passing judgement.
