Ryan: House will take up immigration in pieces (getting around a conference!)

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Rep. Paul Ryan on Thursday told Texas business leaders eager for changes to immigration laws that House Republicans will tackle reform in pieces and ruled out negotiations with the Senate on its comprehensive measure.

The Wisconsin Republican didn't offer a timetable ahead of next week's GOP House caucus annual retreat, where Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has said immigration will top the agenda.

Supporters of an immigration overhaul are renewing hopes that 2014 could bring the first sweeping changes in decades. Ryan expressed optimism at a luncheon hosted by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce but reiterated an insistence among GOP lawmakers that reforms happen piecemeal.

"Let's just say it's eight bills — I don't know. These will represent a smart approach," Ryan said. "We don't want to get into a situation where we end up with some big 1,000-page bill. But we do realize there are things that have to be sequenced."

The Senate last year passed a comprehensive, bipartisan bill that addressed border security, provided enforcement measures and offered a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally.

Ryan made it clear that if the Republican-led House passes a handful of immigration bills, it won't enter talks with the Democratic-led Senate on its legislation.

"We're not going to enter into a process that entertains the idea of taking the Senate bill. So we won't what we call 'conference' with the Senate bill. So we're going to do it our own way," he said.

Like we're supposed to be fooled by this. They've changed tactics. McCain's aide is now working for Boehner, so she's writing the bills, they'll get them through the House and then the Senate will pass all of them.

There won't be any need for a conference if the Senate passes the House's bills. And the House's bills will be written by a former senate aide.

So essentially, the House will pass the Gang of 8's bill in pieces, then send it to the Senate, which will pass it with the help of the usual RINOs and move it along to the President.

This sneaking it in means they’ve received sufficient bribes laundered by the Chambers of Commerce, Big Agra, etc.

Like, did anyone REALLY believe the illegals weren’t going to continue making money for business?

I agree with you completely.

The thing that Boehner and the GOP-e are sad about is that they can’t just rubber stamp the Senate bill because it would be faster.

OK Congressman Ryan: I do support immigration reform in 2014 - it is a must - and this what I support, and in this order:

#1 is seal both north and south borders from illegal entry.

#2 remove all Obama restrictions on the Border Patrol and allow them to do their jobs.

#3. All Immigration judges are to order immediate deportation of all illegal aliens charged with crimes - all crimes.

#4. Pass legislation forbidding illegal aliens from accessing any and all welfare benefits derived from federal funds. (ditto - education)

#5. strictly enforce the law prohibiting employers from hiring illegal aliens.

#6. Pass stringent laws denying citizenship to children born of two non-citizens (legal or illegal) The Constitution does so state this but has been misinterpreted over the years per some(many?)constitutional scholars.

With the above in place self-deportation will take place. This is real immigration reform

This I support and no more!

Anything not 100% Deportation is Amnesty

Any vote for a politician not 100% Deportation is supporting Amnesty

We need to end the BS

Lets start with the first piece…. fence all along the border and the National guard at the border.. with a shot first and ask questions later..and then maybe we can go to step two..

This is a CYA set up. An end around to fool the voting public. They know that it is an election year. They also know that the majority of the people in this country don’t want foreign invaders to be allowed to legally take jobs away from them. So how can they give the dems and big business what they want and still be able to run for re-election? Send up multiple bills, vote for some of them don’t vote for others. Then when election time comes, they can say they voted against amnesty-X even though they voted for amnesty-y.

“So we’re going to do it our own way”

They are going to cave in and pass amnesty their own way. Its a suicide pact.
