If this is set in the 1970/80s then it makes sense that the Russians (Soviets) are the bad guys. If current, it doesn’t.

The Russion Orthodox Church in the United States was predominantly ROCOR (pro-tsarist and absolutely anti-Moscow Patriarchate). A few churches remained in the Moscow Patriarchate in the US. Six were in Michigan, none in Dearborn.

After a millenia of Orthodox Christianity in Russia, I’ve never heard of an instance where a Russian Orthodox Christian used tactics depicted in the movie.

So, no, it doesn’t make sense if set in the 70s or 80s.
