It looks like U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan will have at least one rival in this May's Democratic primary in North Carolina.
First-time political candidate Will Stewart of Pender County said Wednesday he plans to run against the first-term senator. The 31-year-old Stewart runs a computer repair and website building business and previously worked in carpentry.
Stewart is challenging Hagan because he argues she supports the status quo in Washington and that the public is tired of politics as usual. Stewart says voters can relate to someone like him.
Stewart's website list campaign finance reform, stopping the Patriot Act's renewal in 2015 and the decriminalization or legalization of marijuana among his platform of issues.
At least seven Republicans are seeking their party's nomination in May.

The way Democrats vote like zombies in autostep with the party machinery, I’d be surprised if he can crack 5%. But I admire a guy willing to try.
I live in Pender County am unaffiliated so I have a choice in primary to choose R or D, I may vote for Hagen as she is poison.
