WASHINGTON Mexican drug cartels are killing each other with .50-caliber machine guns and grenades just across the U.S. border with Mexico, sources have told WND.
The gun battles are occurring near Fort Huachuca, Ariz., which is the location of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and school.
The Army center is 15 miles from the Mexican border, but the installation runs up against the border.
A source associated with the center said that only a three-strand barbwire fence is keeping any spillover of heavily armed cartel members out of the compound.
Students at the post have had only basic training and havent handled weapons beyond the M-16, which shoots a 5.56 mm round, roughly equivalent to a .223 caliber, which is less than half the size of the .50 caliber.
The episode is the latest flare-up in what American ranchers living along Arizonas southern border say is a virtual war zone.
Mexican drug lords rule in the U.S. border regions and were living by the law of the cartels, one American rancher said.
The ranchers recently blasted the federal government for failing them, warning that the chaos spilling from Mexico is putting U.S. national security at risk.
Mark J. Dannels, sheriff of Cochise County in Arizona, said border security should be a primary issue even before we talk about immigration reform.
Dannels has spent 25 years in law enforcement along the border.
In a Facebook report on the latest incident, Dannels said the violence is occurring in Agua Prieta Sonora, Mexico.

I have known people in the business by association as i was into playing music in my youth, ,who were busted for 140 tons and 4 tons of coke, all protected by agents.. they gave him up because he was getting out of control, gary is now dead, 20 years in rikers, got out and died the next week. Gary was a real scumbag, deserved what he got. I have no evidence...but know it is true.
It is not possible to supply the us with back packers.
Okay, so you are taking the word of a convicted drug smuggler, sent to prison over 20-yrs ago.
Go it.
But then again, the lack of proof PROOVES how good the cover-up is.
So, wink-wink-nudge-nudge-say-no-more, your public revelation of a secret US operation where the US government daily ships tankers full of illegal drugs into the US will remain a secret. . .just between us.

Indeed...
No problem, close your eyes and rest easy.

Which might have something to do with the border remaining unsecured since Eisenhower.
Will do. . .and thanks for spilling the beans about a totally secret black op, hidden for decades (and remains so), involving literally hundreds of thousands of people, from senior US officials, longshoremen, tanker crews, the Coast Guard, news media, not to mention the shipping country point of origin (we all know they can keep a secret).
Nice pool table...
Smells like BS
As usual, WND is a day late and a dollar short.
The gun battle took place in Agua Prieta, across the border from Douglas, AZ and over 50 miles from Ft. Huachuca.
The Post boundary does not abut the border, even though we have illegals crossing through the Post routinely on their trek northward.
The soldiers here are trained on more than just the M-16, thank you very much.
And the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has already taken steps to guard against a spill-over of this violence.
For those who care, check out last week’s thread on this topic. It’s in the Arizona sidebar and is on the ‘aliens’ keyword search page.
No problem my friend, believe as you will, I certainly have no proof so I can see why you feel that way and respect it. I just know what we are being fed is rediculous. Be my luck they will knock me off now, oh well heaven awaits...smile.. yea gary told me he received shipments of that size weekly to supply the east coast, ports would change between houston, phili, and new york...hope I am wrong, but doubt it.
Peace to you.
AP is the Mexican town of Agua Prieta.
The chineese want mexico unstable...they are movin in.
I agree that they are fighting but with .50 cals and grenades?
They moved the Intelligence Command Headquarters and School from Fort Holibird partially because the Bird was not secure due to a rail road line and Colgate Creek running through the middle of the Fort. Now they only have a barbed wire fence between the Fort and the Mexican Cartels. What a major improvement!LOL
The .50 cal is to "reach out and touch someone"..
the grenades are for when they come too close,
and you want to "send them the very best" (wishes?)../sarc
Yes, those weapons are in use. The Cartels are supplied with the very best ordnance drug money can buy.
But I think my comment earlier was to point out the error of the WND story. They said that our soldiers at Ft. Huachuca are only trained on the M-16, and that just isn’t true.
U.S. Border Patrol agents work on Ft. Huachuca.
Kinda gives you an idea of the situation...
Well, maybe a .223 cal is "less then half the size", but the "comparison" ends right there...
.223cal/5.56mm - 2960 fps (14" barrel M-4, 55 grain bullet) = 1,070 ft/lbs muzzle energy
.50 cal - 3155 fps (24" barrel, 650 grain bullet) = 14,367 ft/lbs muzzle energy
The first one will make a hole in your leg, the other one will take your entire leg off.
Somehow or other, those intel folks at Ft. Huachuca (with basic training) seem a bit outgunned?
I am not saying at some point this might not get closer to Ft Huachuca, but now it is 50 miles away in and/or near Agua Prieta, Mexico.
As this continues, smuggling routes near Douglas that are already very bad areas will get worse with smugglers likely attacking smugglers from a different cartel. Ft Huachuca is more likely to experience some of these incidents than the main shootout that has been going on in Agua Prieta.
