Well, it's snowing pretty hard now and we're to get 4 - 10 inches by tonight with very low temps and high winds. There is no way the government could have opened.

Yet all of us tax paying citizens in flyover country where we had actual snow, managed to haul our weary bodies out of bed, clean off our cars and shovel out our driveways so we could make it to work . . .
Why do you suppose that is?

Hey, don’t complain, think about it. The people whose work is IMPORTANT and beneficial to the nation are hardy enough to get to their jobs and do them anyway. The people whose “work” mostly consists of violating the Constitutional rights of the rest of the country and erecting unnecessary roadblocks are not hardy enough. Won’t that produce a better outcome than if it were the other way around?

These people don't seem to have much trouble (as opposed to having to exert mental and physical effort) staying open.

GOOD! They can stay closed for all I care. Everyday they’re closed is one more day they’re not destroying this country.
Just go ahead and stay closed for the next three years.

Ever since the 2010 snow blizzard period, and the one-day evening storm of 2011 in the DC area....folks are hyper about staying around at work when the potential for snowfall occurs.
In 2011, I remember when they said to leave...it was around two hours later when I left. I had only 2.5 miles to go from the Pentagon to my apartment, and the bus completely stopped .5 miles into the trip...stuck on a hill and unable to proceed. I walked the two miles on foot. There were hundreds of cars left on the side of the road or side-streets. For some folks....it took eight hours to walk home or get to a point where someone could pick them up. No one wants to repeat that experience.
I’d say this....DC is lousy at handling snowfall. The folks in Chicago are a thousand times more prepared.
To: MeshugeMikey
Far better this than going into work, getting stuck there and making rules and regulations for 48 straight hours because they can't get home and have nothing else to do.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, but the density of the population is what is the problem. You can’t move that many people around in that kind of snow.

I always cringe when I hear them talk about “non-essential” personnel staying home. Why is it that the U.S. Gubmint employs non-essential people at all?
