A conversation with director Peter Berg, retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, and actor Taylor Kitsch of Lone Survivor....
For me, this issue is to show the deep respect these amazing heroes deserve, to reverence their willingness to kick ass and give all for their country, but still honestly feel that we shouldn’t have put them in harms way in the first place, that our REAL enemies are not stinking moon god worshipping child molesters crapping in caves, or even the useful idiots they convince to fly planes into buildings or detonate vests in crowds of people, but Harvard educated, MBA accredited wearers of custom made suits who are on a first name basis with journalists, CEOs and Senators.
The real enemy is the house of Saud, it’s enablers, the venom it pumps into this country and the rest of the West. The issue is how to point that out, and that we got played for suckers killing people and breaking things in Afghanistan and Iraq when the real enemy was, and is, right amongst us- but still praising the massive cajones, the sacrifice and showing all due appreciation to the men and women who went over there and did things I, at least. could never imagine.
Just the cranky .02 from someone who tried to join -ANY branch - multiple times ( rejected as ‘too deaf to fire artillery’)

When it all started I told my wife that this “war on terror” would last forever because we aren’t willing to do what we would need to do to win it. There’s no doubt in my mind the military would wipe them off the face of the earth if given the chance. But they weren’t allowed.
Now, I’m hearing there is enough firepower in Falujah to occupy Baghdad. That’s just plain depressing when I think of the sacrifices our military made.
Great interview!!! Every single American should go see this magnificent, outstanding movie....period!!! IMHO.....Americans by the millions should be heading to the movies to catch this amazing story of sacrifice, love, brotherhood, defense of country, patriotism, dedication and honor. Hats off to the entire cast and production crew, and...to Peter Berg and Marcus Luttrell. God bless all of them and all of our men and women in uniform...now, and forever!!!
GO SEE THIS MOVIE....”Lone Survivor”!!!
Should have just told everyone “well , we’re sick and tired of the muslims”. The missiles are flying. Oh there would have been a huge huge fuss, but in the end the world would be a better place.
Just got home from watching “Lone Survivor” at the local cinema.
Great movie. Very intense. If you go see it, prepare to be on the edge of your seat for most of the 2 hours running time.
“Thats just plain depressing when I think of the sacrifices our military made.”
Yes, very depressing. We just can’t continue to have a foreign policy that is dependent upon which party is in office.
RSR - I know your frustration: it took me four tries and help from God to get into the Air Force. Literally. I’m an Air Force brat and wanted nothing more than to be a fighter pilot like my old man, but I have an uncorrectable birth defect in my left eye that keeps the vision in that eye at 20/100. 3 times I couldn’t pass the physical. The fourth time, just before I graduated from law school, I tested at 20/70 - the minimum acceptable and the only time I have tested at that vision. I went in as a judge advocate, not a fighter pilot, because that’s where God wanted to use me.

Bingo! And thank you for your service.
Wonderful movie, see it twice.

Very informative interview. Thank you. And I saw the film, too.
I read the book. Now I will see the movie. It always brings up the old argument:”Is it better to see the movie and then read the book?” which I usually answer “yes”.
Now I will be noticing the differences between the real story and the one on screen. Just one incident that Marccus brings up in the Tina Brown interview: Luttrell CRAWLED seven miles across and down that mountain because of his injuries instead of walking.
But I couldn’t wait to see the movie.
I’m an actor and a lot of times I get movies sent to me, trying to get me to vote for them for the SAG Awards. But I didn’t get this one sent to me....probably because it came out too late to qualify for this years awards show. But a very good friend of mine is one of the Chief’s of SEAL Team 1 on Coronado Island. He sent me a link to the movie. I’ve watched it about five times so far. Outstanding.
