Exactly, you should always assume the other driver is an uninsured illegal with nothing to lose.
With the sort of person we’re talking about here I’ve always figured that I’d rather they be in front of me where I can keep an eye on them than behind me.
I move over for them whenever possible.

FYI: Dangerous tactic for ccw holders to place their handgun on the seat if they are preparing for possible self defense use their firearm.

Good point.
I made a holder for my center console that keeps it secure. I suppose a rollover would dislodge it but if that’s the case I’m screwed in any event!
