Speaking to New Yorker editor David Remnick, Obama said he still viewed pot smoking negatively but that on the whole, the drug wasnt the social ill that its been viewed as in the past.
As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I dont think it is more dangerous than alcohol, Obama told the weekly magazine.
The president said pot was actually less dangerous than alcohol in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.

If he means they're both dangerous, then broken clock syndrome. If he means neither is dangerous, then he's uninformed.
As a counselor for many years, alcohol is at the heart of a lot of bad that happens. My guess is that marijuana will be the same. The only reason there isn't big data to prove it is because it's been illegal for the most part. Hard to have people participate in studies of their illegal behavior.
Neither alcohol nor sex require one to interface with drug dealers who will certainly try to "upsell" the customer to other narcotics!
And, I think it's just puritanical to suggest that sex is a vice. Around these parts we prefer to refer to it as "baby making". :)
putiannical?
The Puritans pretty much required married couples to have sex and make babies. No babies or no sex were proper reasons for divorce.
