Agree, That is what I do.
Infiniti I30,1996, purchased at 50k mls, paid 10000$, owned for 8 years (was top rated car of its time)
BMW 318ti, 1996, 160k mls, 4000$, owned for 6 years
Now drive a Infiniti I30 again, 2001, 120k, 5000$
very little repairs, all were/are like new.
